Where did it all start?

Ive always been really sporty,  playing everything from netball to bowling (haha yes bowling) then when I was 10 I started figure skating and that started my love for competitive sport.  I continued training and competing in figure skating until I moved back to Australia in my late teens.  When I was 21 I became a ski instructor and followed the season for 3 years, as much as I loved skiing it also resulted in 2 broken bones, a torn rotator cuff and a busted knee.  After my knee surgery I had to get a personal trainer and go through extensive rehab, which sparked my love for the gym and Ive never looked back since.  When I was 25 I turned my passion into my career and became a personal trainer.  Until I discovered CrossFit, I dabbled in Triathlons and half Marathons but nothing inspired me like Crossfit, I can’t believe that 5 years have now past and I love it just as much if not more than when I started.

Why CrossFit?

I love being challenged and Crossfit does that every day.  Whether thats by learning a totally new skill or constantly improving a skill that Ive been doing since the very beginning.  When I became a personal trainer there were so many movements that I struggled with but wanted more than anything, like strict pull ups, body weigh dips, strict press and heavy back squats.  It wasn’t until I started focusing my training on Crossfit and the strength component of Crossfit that I finally started getting them.  I will always remember the day I got my first strict pull up, it was such an amazing feeling and I have Crossfit to thank for that.

Favourite thing about CrossFit? 

I’ve been training in Crossfit for over 5 years now and I truly love every part of it, however since becoming head coach at Crossfit Victoria I have become heavily involved in the community and that, I have to say is my most favourite part of Crossfit.  The community at Crossfit Victoria is so diverse and inspiring, every day the members of the gym make me smile.

If I had to pick a movement that I liked the most I would have to say any high end gymnastics move, like muscle ups or handstand pushups/walking.  They are something that really haven’t come to me naturally so I have to work on them everyday, which helps me not only love them but respect them.
