Where did it all start?

Throughout school I played pretty much every sport that I had time for but my main favourite sports were field hockey and soccer. Through school I also played State level hockey, basketball and gymnastics. After school I felt like something more challenging and independent, which I then found running, which lead to triathlon and adventure racing. In that time I completed 3 half marathons, 6 triathlons and 1 half Ironman. I wanted to get stronger due to my bike leg being my weakest leg and from that I found CrossFit. 6 months later and at the end of the tri season I gave it up and went full time CrossFit and have never looked back.

Why CrossFit?

To be fitter, faster, stronger than I was yesterday and to prove to myself that anything is possible. The better I am in the gym means the better I’ll be outside the gym and the more prepared I’ll be for anything in my path along my journey through life.

Favourite thing about CrossFit?

I wouldn’t say I have a particular favourite thing about CrossFit but there are a lot of aspects about it that I love. The biggest thing I’ve fallen in love with is weightlifting and the opportunity to be able to move objects that are a lot heavier than you. I love how everyone can do the same workout and we can all experience the same thing and no matter how good or bad you are, everyone is there together. Lastly and most importantly, I love how CrossFit tests all aspects of the human body such as moving heavy weight, total body control and ones muscular endurance. It teaches us to push our limits and go out of our comfort zone and explore the beautiful world we live in and not spend our lives with technology.

Experience:

  • Started CrossFit in October 2012 and just did it twice a week to get stronger for triathlon. Then in April 2013 I quit triathlon and decided to go full time CrossFit.
  • Been coaching since February 2014
  • Competed at State level for field hockey and gymnastics
  • Completed a half Ironman and 3 half marathons
  • Competed in 4 weightlifting competitions and have placed 3rd, 3rd, 2nd and 6th

– Certificate 3 in Fitness

– Certificate 4 in Personal training

– Diploma of Fitness (Fitness Specialist)

– Strength & Conditioning level 1

– Crossfit level 1 trainer

– Advanced First Aid

– Level 1 triathlon development coach

– Level 1 Club weightlifting/sports power coach
