How long have you been doing CrossFit?

4 years.

 

What is your favorite component of CrossFit?

I like that the workouts are different every day, but my favourite thing is working out with good friends. It is the community that keeps me coming back!

 

What do you most enjoy about coaching?

I love watching people grow in confidence as they get stronger and fitter than they ever thought they could be! It makes my day every time I see someone leave the gym with a skip in their step and a big old smile.

 

What are your own goals within the sport?

I am always interested in learning more about good movement and how to get the best out of people. As far as training goes, I would really like to get a 200kg back squat this year.

 

Do you have a favorite CrossFit moment that you’d like to share, or a story that you think would inspire others?

It’s a little cliché these days, but I still remember my first CrossFit workout like it was yesterday. I turned up to a metal garage in the backyard of a guys’ house I had never met before at 6 AM. I had no idea what was about to go down. It was pretty cold, so no one else had turned up for the morning class, which made me even more nervous. After a good warm up and a cash exchange, Coach Doug explained to me how a workout called ‘Cindy’ worked. I remember I was doing pull-ups with the thickest band they had, nearly hitting my head on the roof every rep and trying to hold myself together for 20 minutes, while Coach Doug critiqued every pull-up, push-up and squat I attempted. Finishing with 14 rounds, a headache and some serious nausea, I was hooked on this new way of training called CrossFit!
