Alex Richardson - Level One Trainer
Born and raised in Adelaide till joining the Army at 18 on Sep 11 2001. Moved around from Albury, Townsville and Sydney before finding a home in Melbourne. Started training seriously for fitness in the Army, standard stuff, back/bi’s sort of workouts and a lot of running and cycling. Entered a few triathlons and came 40th in Queensland in 2004. While I was happy with training, there was always something missing…
In 2006, when the movie 300 came out, there was a lot of hype over the actor’s physiques, especially in mainstream magazines like Men’s Health and Muscle and Fitness. Intrigued by the obviously exceptionally strong and lean actor’s I thought ‘if I train like them I can look like them’! I tried it and discovered this training was hard, very hard, and placed constant physical and mental strain during all the workouts I encountered like nothing before had. I was hooked and before I realised it was imersed i the culture of Crossfit.
Thanks to that movie, I now hold Cert 3 and 4 in Fitness, Lvl 1 Strength and Conditioning, Senior and Remote Area First Aid, and am currently studying Nutrition at La Trobe University. Who said movies couldn’t do anything for us? |
