Death by Tabata
8th February 2010

Perform alternating deadlifts 80kg (scale as necessary) and burpees within the Tabata interval framework

Instructions:

  • Start the clock and perform as many reps of deadlifts as possible for 20 seconds
  • Rest 10 seconds
  • Then perform as many burpees as possible in 20 seconds
  • Rest 10 seconds
  • Complete 16 interval (or two Tabata rounds)
  • Your score is counted by the total number of reps in 16 sets (deadlifts + burpees)
  • The entire workout should take 8 minutes.

“I do CrossFit for a number of reasons but one sticks out. I do it because you can take a simple workout, put it in front of 2 people, one who has been doing CrossFit for 5 years and one who has been doing CrossFit for 5 minutes, scale it sure but at the end of the time limit you will have 2 smashed individuals, curled up on the floor in exactly the same position.

I think there is a bond created with people when you go through hardship together, be that a life altering event or even something as simple as Fran.
